Let’s face it, we might be losing TikTok in a matter of days.
Am I disheartened? Yes. Definitely.
Is it the end of the world? No. Even if we do lose TikTok. Even though losing TikTok will suck, will hurt immensely. But the world will keep spinning, and we will be okay.
So, if not on TikTok, then where will we be?
That’s a good question. We each have to answer that question for ourselves. The social media space is in flux and will be rocked by the outcome of this decision, for better or for worse. That being said though, I’ve decided that I want to have some kind of stable place to land despite all the shifting sands of social media.
So, you can find me here. On my website. On my blog posts, that I wholly intend to get better at writing and releasing this year. I will always be here, even if all the other apps fade, fail, and fall off the face of the Earth. I’m also looking into creating a newsletter, so I’ll be in your inbox soon too.
Also, if I can be transparent for moment, I’m kind of tired of having to learn, navigate, and manage multiple profiles for all these apps. I separate my personal life and medias from my life and media as a working author and artist. Double the profiles, double the content, double the work when trying to edit, post, and navigate growing an audience. So I’m definitely taking this as a sign to slow down, and simply exist with what I currently have.
In an attempt to prevent the loss of community, I’m looking into hosting a virtual Open Mic space. It will also double as a space for writing and reading sprints. It will include critique and workshop sessions. Additionally, it will serve as a time for general powwow and discussion.
