If you follow me on any social platforms, follow my website, or have stumbled across any of my recent posts/content, you’ve probably seen that I’m releasing a book of poetry prompts. I wanted to use this blog to briefly explain exactly why I did that.
Truthfully, my reasoning is simple. I think that there’s a budding demographic of people wanting to write poetry of their own, who feel stifled or inadequate when exploring poetry through the lens of foundational writers that are considered classic. On top of that, there are poets out there who may be experiencing lulls in their creativity, or are obstructed by writer’s block. Or maybe they simply want their work to dig deeper.
I know that I’ve been there plenty of times myself.
Thus, I put together Pushing the Pen! My hope, my goal, is to help poets overcome their blockages and lulls, expand their creative thinking so that they may dig deeper in their work, and push themselves beyond the limits of their comfort zones with regard to the themes that they explore within their work, and the ways in which they explore the practice of writing.

I also wanted to make something that would be accessible in terms of availability and costs. Not everyone can afford to, much less wants to, shell out potentially hundreds to thousands of dollars for courses, workshops, or generative-prompts provided during instruction.
With Pushing the Pen, poets now have a cheap resource available to them that they can access whenever they desire as they explore and perfect their craft.
Pushing the Pen is available on Amazon in paperback and ebook formats.
